So, I tried to do FFT of my wave file and than apply my poly transfer function:

where fftResultH is spectrum with distortion effect of my transfer function. And now I want to playing my effected sound in real time / when I open my wave fine and press my play botton I want to hear effected sound, where I can changing parameters A,B,C,D of my transfer function in realtime... Can I do it this way?
I'm using SampleAggregator.

OIC!!!.... I don't have to do fft for apply, just what I have to do is from my chart of function se treshold - is first poin for -values and last point for +value of my input and knee of effect and I don't realy understant how i can implement my other nonlinearities - other points in chart... I will think about it...

Im new here... I will do project about statistics in MIDI file. I need to know how many notes are there and how ong thay are etc. etc. Anyway i need to convert MIDI to txt or just to analyze MIDI directly. My question is how can i load MIDI file to my project using NAudio in a way that help me to analyze file..

I want to use the StreamMediaFoundationReader class in my application, to process the signal form the microphone in real time (i.e. without using disk I/O). I tried adding StreamMediaFoundationReader.cs to the project, but it threw a bunch of reference errors when I tried to compile. So, I looked up the required source code, added those files and tried again, and again...

So far, I have added these files to the project, with no end in sight:

AcmInterop.cs
AcmStream.cs
AcmStreamHeaderStatusFlags.cs
AudioCapture.cs
Mp3FrameDecompressor.cs
NAudio.Wave.cs
StreamMediaFoundationReader.cs

Am I doing this the hard way? Can I install a library or do I just have to keep iterating as I've been doing, until there are no more reference issues?

I have a working incoming UDP audio stream being routed to a WaveOut device. I would like
to pass the incoming audio to a buffer instead of the WaveOut device, so that I can pass the buffer to another already coded DSP engine, using pointers to the buffer. The buffer would act as a kind of FIFO. There is a lot to absorb with regards to the available interfaces in NAudio. Anyone have a suggestion what the signal chain items would be for this application. Regards, Karin
PS: Anyone have any idea when this site will be migrated????

No need for FFT right?, Just convolve your signal with the transfer function.

I want to use the StreamMediaFoundationReader class in my application, to process the signal form the microphone in real time (i.e. without using disk I/O). I tried adding StreamMediaFoundationReader.cs to the project, but it threw a bunch of reference errors when I tried to compile. So, I looked up the required source code, added those files and tried again, and again...

So far, I have added these files to the project, with no end in sight:

AcmInterop.cs
AcmStream.cs
AcmStreamHeaderStatusFlags.cs
AudioCapture.cs
Mp3FrameDecompressor.cs
NAudio.Wave.cs
StreamMediaFoundationReader.cs

Am I doing this the hard way? Can I install a library or do I just have to keep iterating as I've been doing, until there are no more reference issues?

Comments: Yes, the normal way to use NAudio is to reference the DLL - easiest to just use NuGet, or get the source and build yourself. The StreamMediaFoundationReader class is relatively new and is not supported on all operating systems.

My transfer function is not linear, so you can't convolve nonlinear system with signal. If you want convolve you have to do volterra series. What I have to do is FFT and the add harmonic in spectrum... So... I done it my program can add harmonic distortion to my input signal... but I've got a little trouble with latency. I've go some handling noises like popping in my output signal... but my latency is 250... I think is becouse of counting of polynoms in worker thread...
PS: To Freefall... I'm sorry... I know my English is terrible, but I'm not native speaker and writer definitly not...

Two tips maybe,

1: Add a clipper so the signal does not go to digital 1 and -1. It could be out of bounds rather than latent. But with FFT I can see the point.
2: Lot's of things add harmonic distortion. Think tubes, It's not FFT level complex (nothing is ;) ), rather It's a transfer function.

Comments: Sorry, still struggling. When I use thee NuGet package, my project build throws a missing reference error for StreamMediaFoundationReader. I have confirmed that 'StreamMediaFoundationReader.cs' is in the compile include list in 'NAudio.csproj', so I don't know what is wrong. Do I need another 'using' statement? (I only have 'using NAudio' and 'using NAudio.Wave')

What I know so far if I remember correctly:

1) samples of realtime input -> FFT -> Complex output

2) samples of convolution input -> FFT -> Complex output (Can be stored and re-used)

3) Multiply 1) and 2) for convolution -> IFFT (=inverse FFT) -> output realtime samples

I think this was the basic approach.

I should say upfront that I don't expect this is genuinely an naudio problem - but I'm stumped.

My app records the user's voice in discrete phrases, and they can optionally play back their recorded voice, and re-record phrases they are not happy with.

When the app (re)records a phrase, it simply deletes the existing phrase with a call to IO.File.Delete, which normally works fine.

However, if I have played back the phrase first, the call to IO.File.Delete fails with "System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access to the path <filename> is denied."

Examining with Process Explorer shows, as expected, that only my app has a file handle to the sound file in question.

So, it seems as if the NAudio.Wave.AudioFileReader isn't letting go of the file - even though I explicitly dispose and set the object to nothing when I finish playing the phrase.

Am I missing something? Is there a step I should be taking to explicitly release the file?

Any advice very gratefully received!
